I like the detail in the headtube badge that allows you to select the head angle accurately. Well thought out. I should add though that the downtube will be hard to construct.
Normally tubes can be bent by sliding a flexible mandarel inside so that the tube doesnt kink when bending. With a tapered tube like this that is very hard to do, this leaves you with only hydroforming as an option which means tooling and big $$$. Unless of course you switch to a straight tube.
Also you could add another recess to the link without sacrificing strength, its a bit portly looking. Overall i like its simple no nonsense approach. :-)
btw is that a lefty ;-) im going to vote for this one as i think alot of thought has gone in, but yeah, definately needs to be supported at both sides of the link.
Its going to flex like hell, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Carbon is stiff enough, however the fact that he has only one set of bearings to support the rear end from side to side movement is going to be the undoing. Bearings all have a tiny amount of play built in to allow them to turn and that will translate into a fair bit of play at the wheel, unless he extends the seatstay and chainstay to meet another set of bearings on the other side of the link.
Friction will be an issue, and also the cones will have to be alot bigger in terms of diameter to get a reasonable spread of gears.
Gee's Commencal didnt use production geometry either. Dont read too much into that bit about getting the geometry just right.
Yeah that super 8 section was ridiculous!!!! so was this video..
@ stacykohut, i agree.. a huge missed open goal a few years back when she made it clear that the only thing stopping her from racing was funding.. seems insane really considering her results.
